Professional Profile
|
I have spent two years as an OSP
inspector, one year as an Assistant Resident and another as a Resident
Engineer for Mid-States Consultant. Prior to that I spent two years as an
Account Manager for Waste Management. I previously spent 2 Years with
Valley Telephone as an OSP Design Engineer, And I am currently employed
with Level 3 (formally TW Telecom). Over my career in the telephone
business I have spent 100% of my time working specifically with fiber optic
and fiber optic systems. I have helped design, manage, build and inspect
approximately 16+ jobs ranging from $400,000.00 - $72,000,000.00, and 800+
miles of fiber optic cable. Majority of my work was done as a
consultant in south Texas for my then client Valley Telephone. Other
clients include: Penasco Valley Telephone in New Mexico, RT Communications
in Wyoming, and Range Telephone in Montana. My employment duties have
included but are were are limited to: designing, engineering, computer
drafting, data entry, records keeping, cost estimates, contractor
procurement, public relations, permitting, cell sites, fiber to the home
and business, MDU, transport and distribution fiber, ISP, switching,
frame layouts, quality control, trouble shooting, repairs, budgeting,
marketing assistance, locates, service order work flow processing, site
surveying, etc.. In my role with Level3 Communications I utilized
a variety of systems for the processing and reporting of work activities,
inventorying OSP facilities, documentation of projects and managing various
budgets to include but not limited to new construction and route
maintenance/protection. Maintain the security of the outside fiber plant
(OSP) network, either aerial and/or underground, throughout area of
responsibility by managing cable location, by locating contractors and
initiating protection activities. Work closely with other carriers, local/
state agencies and building owners/landlords on new building add and
relocations. Work closely with upstream groups, complete fiber verification
requests, project estimations, designs, bids, permits and manage
construction of new building add. Monitor infrastructure builds and
reviews/punch lists and approve work meets industry construction standards.
Prepare project timelines, prepare and track budgets and provide detailed
weekly status reports. Obtain value added contractors/subcontractors for
engineering, permitting and construction of OSP/ISP infrastructure. Obtain
and manage contractors for route protection. Maintain fiber splice records,
network topography records and fiber mapping. Direct emergency restoration
and mitigation activities required for the OSP network. This could include
fiber optic damages, natural disasters, power failures and other events.
Manage contract and/or employee fiber splicers. Provides on the job
divisional training to employees and oversee contractors to ensure the
proper method and procedures of facility protection and maintenance are
followed. This includes the use of locating equipment, use of Optical Time
Domain Reflectometers (OTDR) and troubleshooting tone generation/reception
in field. My current Role with Ervin cable encompasses a majority of past
experiences, with a direct permitting and vendor oversight.
